
Society of American Magicians – 100th Salute to Magic
May 18, 2009Surreel filmed with six cameras the 100th Salute to Magic for the Society of American Magicians at the Manhattan Center. Using iChat we were able to provide a live projected feed for the audience from David Copperfield in Las Vegas. The Salute to Magic is the longest running annual show in U.S. history! The performers inlcuded David Ben, Mike Caveney, Paul Daniels, The Pendragons, The Amazing Randi, Margaret Steele, Johnny and Pam Thompson.

Flav Celebrates 50th Birthday
March 15, 2009Surreel was at BB Kings in New York to film Flavor Flav performing with Public Enemy as he celebrated his 50th birthday at the stroke of midnight. Ice-T , Grand Master Melle Mel and boxing trainer/commentator Emmanuelle Stewart were also on stage to celebrate. As a special request, Ice-T performed “Six In The Morning” as Flavor Flav played the drums.
Director David Hausen along with cameraman Justin Stanley filmed the show as well as behind-the-scenes footage for Surreel’s on-going Flavor Flav documentary which has been in production for over five years.

Surreel’s Haring Doc Receives IDA Fiscal Sponsorship
December 20, 2008Surreel’s Keith Haring: Untitled Documentary has just been awarded a fiscal sponsorship by the International Documentary Association (IDA). IDA is a well-respected documentary film organization based in Los Angeles, California. The IDA allows film makers to be associated with a non-profit organization through fiscal sponsorship this means that we will be able to accept tax deductible donations to our film through IDA. It also will give the project more exposure through IDA’s sponsored projects webpage.

PSA for National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
December 4, 2008Surreel along with our client Megaphone Media recently produced a new PSA for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Directed by David Hausen the spot features Auston Harris, a seventeen year old race car driver.

We are proud to announce that our work with client Springboard on “The Courage Campaign” part of The Campaign for California’s future has won a Silver Summit Creative Award. Surreel produced “Why I’m a Democrat” a gorgeous black and white video feature on the main page in which average people – not celebrities – talk to the camera close-up about their beliefs and values.

A&E network and Palm Beach International Film Festival
April 11, 2008Red Hot Chili Peppers: Untitled Documentary was shown in competition at the 2008 PBIFF. Director David Hausen spoke as a panelist on digital film production. Additionally, A&E network has selected Red Hot Chili Peppers: Untitled Documentary as one of only a few films for an exciting new program called the A&E IndieFilms Spotlight. Spotlight is part of a national sponsored partnership between A&E and L’Oreal which will focus on four film festivals. As part of this campaign, one film from the Palm Beach International Film Festival will be featured nationally on the A&E network and in a :30 televised spotlight.
Congratulations to 
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Lars Ulrich enjoying a delivery at the House of Blues after Metallica’s induction into the Hall of Fame this Saturday Night. Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers gave a moving induction speech honoring the band. Metallica tore up the stage joined by bassist Jason Newstead.
